How Often Should a Small Business Post on Social Media?

This might surprise you -

Most small businesses do not need to post every day.

For the majority of local businesses, I recommend:

2–4 posts per week

That’s enough to:

  • Stay visible

  • Build trust

  • Show your work

  • Stay top-of-mind

Without burning yourself but..

You may need to post more often if:

  • You’re running promotions

  • You’re in a high-competition industry

  • You rely heavily on Instagram or Facebook for leads

But even then — strategy comes before volume.

Three clear, helpful posts per week will outperform seven random ones.

If you’re posting daily but your message isn’t clear, more content won’t fix it.

Clarity + consistency = growth.
